What is Key for my website to get high ranking? The 6 Key SEO Elements.
Paraphrasing Wikipedia, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is defined as a series of actions or steps that are taken in order to achieve high visibility of a website or web pages in a web search engine‘s unpaid results. It has been proven that the higher the ranking, the better the visibility, the more frequently a site appears in search results, the more visitors it will get from the search engine users.
It has been proven that the higher the ranking, the better the visibility, the more frequently a site appears in search results, the more visitors it will get from the search engine users, therefore, the greater opportunity to generate revenue.
Unpaid results are often referred to as “organic” or “natural”. Organic and natural are ranking results that are generated and earned naturally, without paying for some kind of service to achieve rank.
The key to generating income for the website owner(s) is in monetizing the high level of traffic generated, by either solving a consumer problem or by offering compelling product or service offerings that meet consumer desires.
So let`s take a look at what I believe are the (6) key SEO elements:
This is the title of your blog page or post and may contain keywords in the title, which helps the content to appear for search engines.
2. Meta Description:
This should be a short, concise description of the content that is contained on your blog, post or page.
3. Use Keywords, but also use Long-tailed Keywords in your Content:
As mentioned in Key 1., it is helpful that your keywords appear in your meta title. It is also beneficial that the keywords appear in your first paragraph and somewhere in the body or conclusion of your page. You should aim to do so but not do what is referred to keyword stuffing. The keyword should be in the context of the article, otherwise, the search engines may penalize you for keyword stuffing.
Long tail keywords are longer and more specific than the better known and more conventional “head” keywords. Long tail keywords are more targeted and less competitive than short-term keywords. Even though the Longtail keywords get less search traffic, they usually have a higher conversion value because they are more focused on a much more specific product. I believe it is well worth utilizing Long-tailed keywords in your content.
4. Alt Tag on Images:
Many people miss this opportunity, the images contained in your blogs. posts and pages are identified by search engines with the use of alt tags. Prior to posting images, embed keywords in the alt tags for the images.
5. External Links:
As I have done with this post, it is advisable to Link to authority websites such as Wikipedia. doing so is important as it demonstrates to the search engines that you have faith and trust other reliable sources.
6. Internal Links:
On the subject of Trust, trusting reliable websites is important but it is just as important that you trust and have faith in your own work – Link to yourself, other pages, blogs and posts in your site where the content appears on other sites if you have them. Link to yourself to demonstrate to search engines that you trust and have faith in your work.
If you follow the above template you will repeatedly rank high and help your website get the highest visibility possible.
Remember that your ranking will fluctuate. There are some reasons why this is the case:
- The initial ranking of new content is really the search engines best guess. With new content, there is usually a limited amount of information that is available, in a lot of cases in relation to other posts that may deal with the same subject matter.
- When the search engines gather more information, they will reassess the content. This may result in a change in ranking and your content may move up or down. In my experience, it usually moves down. This is generally not permanent. Your ranking may rise again over a period of time. This is dependent in many cases, on the type of product or service. When you have a product or service that is unique, it is less likely that the rank will change very much. On the other hand, in product and service areas where things change rapidly, or there is some stiff competition, it may be a different story, the rank will fluctuate and sometimes wildly.
So remember, the ranking is very much niche dependent and really does depend on good quality content. Even when the ranking fluctuations are drastic, don`t despair. I personally move on to creating new additional content. If you must, you can revisit your content and revise it to address whatever is contributing to the rank change. If you choose to do so, I strongly suggest that you take great care not to mess with your keywords that contributed to the high rank in the first place.
